This is getting a bit beyond a joke now!!

The first weekend of 2019 has started off once again, on a dull, dreary and depressing note with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening as our winter frost-free hell goes on.

Furthermore, this is now the third morning in a row which has started off like this which means that our winter borefest and permacast hell have now also entered into their third day.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 4.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After the past couple or so days having been bright, it's back to full on anticyclone gloom with nebulous looking skies. Still rather "chilly" at 4.8 c & 80% dp under light winds.

The sky remains overcast and for what is now the third day in a row, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank in the end.

That now makes today our third completely sunless day of this month and the third completely sunless day of this year, despite today only being the fifth day of this year. In addition to that as well, today is now also our 15th sunless day of this so-called "winter" and with the way that this is going just now, this month could now very well be in very serious danger of going down as a substantially duller than average month in the end, unless this situation changes soon and we start seeing seeing some sunshine once again.

Today's maximum temperature so far was 5.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 5.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Clear skies and down to +0.3C but will no doubt still likely fail to get a frost.

Gloom most of the day with a max of 5.4C. Sun did come through in the afternoon for a total of 0.6 hours. However just a few miles away Dyce apparently had nothing. Happens so frequently that the records from there are not to be trusted at all. The sunshine sensor must be in a shaded area because it is absolutely useless and a disgrace that it's being used for official purposes
