Once again, our weather is back to being cloudy with the temperatures refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud around.

In fact, the temperatures have gone up slightly over the last few hours with the temperature at all three of my local stations, having gone back up above freezing by 9pm yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 0.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After yesterday's nice looking frost, normal service for this winter has now been resumed here as we have returned to our usual frost-free hell with this morning starting off on a rather dull, overcast, dreary, depressing and soul destroying note with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather, actually happening.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 1.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Dipped below freezing only after 8am, I think due to rather more broken cloud. It was very thick and dark overnight. -0.2C currently.

Unbroken altostratus cover, calm, dry.

2.6*C after a minimum of 0.7*C at 4.00am.

90%RH; 1040.5mb steady.

I remember a January sometime in the 1980s when there was anticyclonic gloom for about three weeks here in the SE, so the current weather conditions aren't unprecedented.  Three weeks of it really was depressing...

Here in Edinburgh, our winter borefest goes on which means that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

It is also not as cold today as it was yesterday, so the temperature at 12 noon was 4.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Full-on anticyclonic gloom here today. An air pressure of 1043mb on my PWS, yet the sky is slate grey. As a result the temperatures haven't fluctuated by very much. Currently 3.1C, up from a low of 1.2C this morning.

Fair and bright with good sunny spells. Even the 7.1 c & 80% h felt pleasantly spring-like in the low noon sunshine when I popped out to get the papers, especially as winds are light.

Winter 2019, you're alright (so far) in my books. Far, far more preferable to Winter 2014.

Partly cloudy here this afternoon and 1.8°C. It feels quite pleasant in the sunshine thanks to the light winds.

Here in Edinburgh, today has just been one massive dull, overcast and boring nothingness with constant grey skies throughout the day. As a result of that, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This makes today, our first completely sunless day of both this month and this year, and our 13th sunless day of this co-called "winter".

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 3.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Just 4 degrees under cloudy skies this afternoon, but it feels colder- the wind is light, but dry; got that icy feeling about it. Variable direction, always with a N component and sometimes NE.
