No official drought here in Edinburgh just now as our last recorded rainfall came just a few days ago, but we have certainly had quite a shortage of rain here from last May onwards with that rainfall deficit only continuing to grow even further during this winter as a result of it having been so dry so far.

I mentioned a while ago that some cloud had recently started to appear, and this has now resulted in the temperature going up to 0.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 0°C at Edinburgh Airport as at 6pm this evening, although it was still down at -2.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh at that time.

Normal service for this winter has been resumed once again, as it is now much cloudier with the temperature having gone up a bit over the last few hours as a result although there is still a lot of frost around for now.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 0.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and -0.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Some thin cloud has moved in up here too and the temperature has risen. Still -1.5C so we may just hang on to our ice day.

Where has all this high cloud and wind come from - it was -3 earlier this evening , now +1, was this forecast? I was expecting a -6 at least after the paltry +2 last night under statocumulus which was forecast!
