There was some rain around a short while ago but as is usually the case here these days, that has amounted to very little.

Nevertheless, a total of 4.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 2.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which for once is probably more than what most of the rest of the UK got since the vast majority of the UK is actually currently under the influence of high pressure to our south at the moment.

Once again though, the temperatures are refusing to drop due to there being too much cloud around although it isn't as windy as it was a day earlier and in fact, the temperatures have actually gone up slightly over the last hour or so.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 7.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Once again, the temperature has carried on going up after my initial post on this thread as our frost-free horror show continues into yet another day.

There was a few light showers around during the early hours of this morning which means that a total of 0.4 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

That then takes us into a rather dull and depressing start to this penultimate day of 2018 with more in the way of constant grey skies and with nothing at all which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather, actually happening as this complete and utter borefest which is known as our "winter" continues to drag on but I am in no doubt that we will either end up with today being a completely sunless day, or the Sun will break through with another 4+ hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank since this is how it normally seems to go these days.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 10.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

So far, today has just been one massive boring grey nothingness so that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This afternoon was a little bit brighter with the Sun making a very late appearance. In the end though, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which makes today, our 12th completely sunless day of both this month and this winter as well as the 56th sunless day of 2018.

Today's maximum temperature was once again reached in the early hours of this morning, and this was 12.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 10.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Once again, the presence of too much cloud means that the temperatures are already refusing to drop from their current very mild values for this time of year.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 10.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
