It's now completely overcast and not only are the temperatures refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud around, but they have actually gone up a bit over the last hour or so.

In the end, 0.2 mm of rain was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh although for both of these stations, this is probably due to condensation rather than actual rainfall.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 2.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning has started off on a dreary and overcast note with a return to our usual frost-free horror show as too much cloud during the night meant that the temperatures just refused to drop.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 1.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 0°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with those temperatures all being reached in the late afternoon/early evening.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 3.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

What a surprise. No sign of last night's clear skies and frost as this horrendous late Autumn/early winter rolls on with another morning of dank and dreary SE'ly muck. Temp: 5.1C.

Turning out fair with some sunshine and broken medium height cloud, not to mention how the 9.6 c & 76% h felt pleasantly mild in light wind when I just popped out a few minutes ago.

Quite different to my own forecast of overcast skies and occasional drizzle for today.

The Sun finally managed to make a very brief appearance during this afternoon but in the end, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank, thus making today our 4th sunless day of this winter.

With so much cloud around, the temperatures aren't really changing all that much and are stuck at around 6°C as at 4pm this afternoon.
