As I write, it is still raining here in Edinburgh although that looks to be in the process of clearing away according to the latest rain radar maps. The mist from earlier on has gone as well.

In the end, a total of 5.4 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 6.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperatures are still refusing to drop and just after I submitted my last post on yesterday's thread, the temperatures jumped up once again to reach a new maximum value for yesterday of 7.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

As at midnight, the temperature was 7.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.7°C at the botanic gardens which ended up being yesterday's maximum temperature at that particular station in the end.

Feels like winter up here now. Clear with icy patches this morning and a cold couple of days to come. Hard frost tonight and tomorrow night with transient snow possible on Wednesday 👍

Well, well, well!! I've just woke up to something which I haven't seen here for quite a long time, and that is clear skies with very little in the way of cloud after the overnight rain had cleared away. This makes me hopeful at least, that we should finally get to see the Sun here for the very first time this winter, at long long last.

So far, a total of 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This now makes today, the 16th day in a row which has failed to stay completely dry. However, all of today's total occurred during the first hour after midnight as the overnight rain cleared away.

The temperatures have taken a bit of a late dip under the clear skies which we have just now and although this hasn't been enough to give us any frost, these temperatures were still dropping as I write.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 4.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning has brought something else which I haven't seen for quite a while, and that is almost completely sunny skies with a total of 1.7 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

This is only the first recorded sunshine of this winter (and of this month), but this already makes today our sunniest day since 18 November 2018 regardless of what happens between now and sunset, as well as ending that run of 11 days in a row with less than an hour of sunshine in total which dated all the way back to 22 November 2018.

This morning's minimum temperature was 3.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 5.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After what has been a reasonably fair morning with some bright spells here at Folkestone, it is currently pissing down. Still very mild at 13 c, though.

An almost completely sunny afternoon means that in the end, a total of 4.9 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

The temperatures during this afternoon reached a maximum of 6.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, it was during the early hours of this morning that today's actual maximum temperatures were reached and these were 8.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Now that the Sun has gone down though, the temperatures are already dropping quite nicely under clear skies and so, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 3.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Well, this is so frustrating!!

For the last couple of hours, we have come very close to getting our first official air frost of the winter at two of my three local stations. Every time that this is about to happen though, a breeze then picks up which causes the temperature to either refuse to drop any further, or to jump back up again.

This means that the temperature at 8pm this evening was 1.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 0°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
