Overcast with nothing really happening as usual and so, the borefest goes on in one of the most boring parts of the UK when it comes to our weather.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 5.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning has started off on a rather dark and depressing note with a lot of mist and very thick cloud cover as our frost-free hell goes on with nothing which is even remotely interesting, actually happening.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 4.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Rather overcast, and with the current 12.8 c & 96% h under lighter wind and after 9.6 mm of rain fell overnight, it is now as moist as Warren Beatty's middle finger.

It's not quite as misty as it was earlier on, but it is still completely overcast with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

It was also raining a short while ago and although this hasn't yet resulted in any recorded rainfall for today at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, a total of 0.2 mm of rain has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

This morning's minimum temperature was 3.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 5.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so it's a little bit colder today than what it was yesterday, though still not all that cold for this time of year.

Sun's just popped out, thus lifted temps to 13.1 c. Just a shame that the sun sets at about . . . now.

The dross goes on and on with yet another cloudy day. Now just one day (Friday) in two weeks with as much as 1.5 hours of sunshine

Vile temperatures as usual with a max of only 4.8C but no frost. Utterly pathetic and the worst winter climate on earth.

Today has been yet another dark and dismal day which in end, has resulted in nothing in the way of sunshine being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank yet again. This means that this winter has now started off with two back to back sunless days which together, have made up a completely sunless weekend that I will now just be glad to see the back of.

There has also been some light rain and drizzle at times which has resulted in the measly small total of 0.8 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature was 5.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 5.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

I'm glad that I've had a weekend indoors. It hasn't got light in Edinburgh all weekend. The lamps and Christmas lights have been on throughout. A cosy Sunday Lunch in the local pub with darkness outside, Arthur's Seat and the Pentlands lost in fog. I am quite happy with this weather in December 👍

I see that Edinburgh's max has been 6 C. Inverness only 3 C but London 15 C!!! The range of temperature in these small islands always amazes me.

Can you imagine the difference between sunny spells and 15 C compared to dull, damp 3 C 😲

The rain has become much heavier here as the evening has gone on with the exception of a brief respite from that a short while ago, and it is also very misty here as well. This has now taken today's rainfall totals so far as at 8pm this evening to 2.8 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 2.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will after all, now go down as the first official rain day of both this month and this winter at both of those stations.

With all of this going on, the temperatures are once again refusing to drop due to there being too much cloud. In fact, the temperature has actually gone up a bit over the last few hours which for two of my three local stations, was enough to take the temperature to above the maximum temperatures which were reported earlier on by both myself and Jerry on this thread. This now brings today's more up to date maximum temperature to 6.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 6.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with the maximum temperature at Edinburgh Airport remaining unchanged at 6°C.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 5.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The weather has remained the same now for near on 48 hrs with a maximum variation in temperature of only 0.5c. It's currently 12c, windy gusting 36mph with a light mizzle.

At least in the Northern areas your temperatures are closer to being seasonal.
