This afternoon was a lot brighter with no further additions to today's rainfall total so far, and with a total of 1.3 hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This keeps us nicely on course for this month to go down as being sunnier than average overall in the end, with a minimum total of 10.5 hours of sunshine now needed over the last 9 days of this month in order for that to happen.

The temperature has also dropped quite a bit over the last hours so that the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was now down to around 3.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (there is no maximum temperature to give here since that occurred during the very early hours of this morning and the temperature has slowly been dropping throughout the day since then).

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

The skies are clear just now with the temperatures slowly dropping away, although there is still a bit of a breeze around at times, which is preventing that from happening all that quickly. The downside is that the latest BBC forecast has it clouding over again by tomorrow morning with rain moving in from the east so if we are going to get a frost tonight, we could really do with making the most of the clear skies which we have just now and getting those temperatures down as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 2.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Just been outside and the cars have got frost on them.  Air temp is 1.4*C so maybe we'll get our first proper frost of the winter.

6.2c with showers. Lightening seen earlier this evening in some of the larger CBs. Hail storms mid afternoon caused several RTAs.

Absolute garbage yet again. No sun, boring light rain and a totally rank easterly wind. Vile temperatures with a min of 5.2C and a max of 8.0C so another well above average daily mean.

This week has been even worse than originally forecast. It has not even dropped below 5C which is just shocking for late November when we would be expecting maxes colder than that. 6.9C now so very mild for the time of day yet again with very little movement in either direction
