If it was 2c colder this would be turning into the B.F.T.E. MK II !!!

The showers/rain is forming as the air mass passes over the land so it's hard to second guess the rainfall from the showers over the North Sea.

Horrid out there with a bitter wind!

let's face it - we are doing pretty well to get an easterly, given that November is meant to be the most unsettled month of the year with mild zonality and weather systems from west to east not east to west. Just hope we get this in a month or so's time.

This afternoon brought some further sunshine at times, especially during the early part of the afternoon and in the end, 1.5 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This now leaves needing a total of at least another 11.8 hours of sunshine during the last 10 days of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average overall at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, further showers have continued to pile in from on off the North Sea and although there was a relative lull in that showery activity during the early part of this afternoon, these showers have now become a lot more frequent once again during the last hour or so. This has now increased today's rainfall total so far as at 4pm this afternoon to 4.0 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 4.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which now makes today the second wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations as at 4pm this afternoon.

In addition to that, it is still very windy with the maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank now getting up to 39.1mph from the east as at 4pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 7.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This makes today, the coldest day of this month so far at all three of my local stations although there isn't very much in it.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 6.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Just above 2C, and unexpectedly cold as I left work, with a dry, cold easterly, but wet roads, overcast conditions and something falling lightly from the sky.

The temperature here has dropped from 3.7C at 5pm to 2.5C now and it's precipitating outside according to my PWS. I might just stick my nose out the door, just in case...

I can see that there is a lot going on just now, so it is now time to start a new thread for today.

There has been a number of showers being brought in from off the North Sea during last night by this latest feeble and rather pathetic attempt at an easterly (it's a shame that we can't seem to get a real, properly cold easterly at this time of year which is actually cold enough to bring some snow, and which we used to occasionally get at this time of year).

Today recorded a whopping 0.7 hours sun but may well be the sunniest day of the week Utterly dire temperatures with another very mild min of 5.4C followed by a dismal max of 6.7C. Drizzle and rain on and off all day amounting to 2.4mm

There are still some showers around with most of them during this evening, having occurred at around teatime before another lull in the proceedings. This has now taken today's rainfall totals so far to 5.6 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 5.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 8pm this evening.

It is still very windy as well with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 39.1mph from the ENE as at 8pm this evening.

As a result of there being too much cloud and far too much wind around, the temperatures are already refusing to drop and in fact, the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has just gone up close to today's earlier reported maximum value for there during the last hour. This means that the temperature at 8pm this evening was 6.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
