The Sun has just come out for brief periods at a time, but the overnight period and this morning has brought a succession of frequent showers which have been heavy at times, and which are being brought in from off the North Sea by an easterly wind which was gusting up to 28.9mph at 8am this morning at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
This has resulted in a total of 1.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning along with 1.6 mm (according to SEPA) at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.
Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 5.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so that the frost-free horror show which we have seen throughout this month goes on.
I don't have all of the available data which I need for this report, so I can only say that the temperature at 8am this morning was around 6°C.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
