This is probably hardly worth reporting here, but a total of 0.2 mm of rain was recorded for yesterday in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, a further 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 10am this morning along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

With those amounts being so small, I won't give the usual detailed report here, so I will therefore just finish off by reporting that this takes this month's totals so far to 27.2 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 22.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Although the amounts have been very small here, we haven't had the lengthy dry spell which was looking on the cards for a while, such as what we had in October. In addition to that, it looks as though we are likely to see some further rain and/or showers over the next few days which will be brought in off the North Sea on an easterly wind.

Beyond that though, it then looks set to become a bit drier once again and so, this month is probably now going to go down as being drier than average in terms of the actual rainfall amounts, and possibly substantially so.

In the end, a total of 0.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, a total of 0.8 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning along with 1.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 28.4 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 112.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 532.8 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 24.8 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 96.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 521.1 mm as at 7am this morning.

This means that just a minimum of three more official rain days are needed to occur between now and the end of this month at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of official rain days at that particular station.

With some fairly frequent showers continuing to brought in from off the North Sea on an easterly wind (it is currently raining as I write), those above totals for today are unlikely to be today's final totals.

In the end, a total of 6.0 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 6.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes yesterday the second wettest day of this month so far at both of those station..

In addition to that, a total of 6.8 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning along with 5.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which already makes today the joint wettest day of this month so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 40.4 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 124.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 544.8 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 34.4 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 106.2 mm and the total for this year so far to 530.6 mm as at 7am this morning.

This means that just a minimum of two more official rain days are needed to occur between now and the end of this month at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of official rain days at that particular station. However, this autumn as a whole is likely to go down as being drier than average in terms of the number of official rain days at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This also means that just a minimum of three more official rain days are needed to occur between now and the end of this month at Edinburgh Gogarbank in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of official rain days at that particular station with a minimum of three more official rain days also needed between now and the end of this month for this autumn as a whole to also go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of official rain days.

For both of those stations, this month is still running slightly drier than average in terms of the actual rainfall amounts. However, we are now in quite a wet period which means that there is no guarantee that this month will end up like that in the end, although this is unlikely to make this autumn as a whole, anything other than substantially drier than average in terms of the actual rainfall amounts at both of those stations.

In the end, a total of 8.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 7.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes yesterday the wettest day of this month so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank and the second wettest day of this month so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, today has been completely dry so far at both of those stations as at 8am this morning.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 41.8 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 125.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 546.2 mm as at 8am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 37.0 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 108.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 533.2 mm as at 8am this morning.

In the end, a total of 0.8 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 2.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, today has been completely dry so far at Edinburgh as at 7am this morning but 0.2 mm of rain has fallen during this morning so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 7am this morning.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 42.6 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 126.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 547.0 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 39.6 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 111.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 535.8 mm as at 7am this morning.

This means that just one more official rain day needs to occur between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in terms of the number of official rain days.

72.6mm here, which is still about 25mm below normal because November is most often our wettest month.

I don't see much more in the closing days.

A very showery month with the warm channel aiding convection on our coast from SW'lies and more recently ENE'lies.

In the end, a total of 0.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, a total of 1.8 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 44.6 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 128.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 549.0 mm as at 12 noon.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 40.0 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 111.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 536.2 mm as at 12 noon.

This means that one more official rain day still needs to occur between now and the end of this month at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in terms of the number of official rain days.

This also means that just two more official rain days still needs to occur between now and the end of this month at Edinburgh Gogarbank in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average at Edinburgh Gogarbank in terms of the number of official rain days.

However, both of those stations now look certain to end up being substantially drier than average during this month overall in terms of the overall rainfall amounts, though nothing like to the same extent which we saw during October.

With further showers now moving in from off the North Sea though, those above totals for today are unlikely to be today's final totals.

In the end, a total of 4.4 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 3.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, a total of 0.4 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning along with 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 47.6 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 131.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 552.0 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 43.2 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 115.0 mm and the total for this year so far to 539.4 mm as at 7am this morning.

Since there has been more official rain days during this month so far than the 1981-2010 November average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this month will now go down as being wetter than average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in terms of the number of official rain days regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month.

Just 26.2mm here, to the end of the 24th. Really quite dry considering it's November. For northern areas, this could actually be one of the driest Novembers for quite some time. The only caveat will be next week... hopefully it won't be a deluge and completely ruin the figures.

In the end, a total of 1.4 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, today has been completely dry so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning but 0.2 mm of rain has fallen during this morning so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 8am this morning.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 48.6 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 132.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 553.0 mm as at 8am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 45.2 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 117.0 mm and the total for this year so far to 541.4 mm as at 8am this morning.

This means that just one more official rain day needs to occur between now and the end of this month at Edinburgh Gogarbank in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average at Edinburgh Gogarbank in terms of the number of official rain days.

Since there has been more official rain days during this month so far than the 1981-2010 November average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this month will now go down as being wetter than average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in terms of the number of official rain days regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month.

In terms of the actual rainfall amounts, this month is still running drier than average, and looks certain to end up that way. However, this is only due to the time of year and the fact that the 1981-2010 November averages for both Edinburgh Gogarbank and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh are higher than the equivalent averages for every other month except for October and January. This is shown by the fact that this month would actually be slightly wetter than average overall in terms of the actual rainfall amounts if it was April or May for example, with the same amount of rain having been recorded.

What is really remarkable about this month though has been the fact that there has been far fewer completely dry days at both Edinburgh Gogarbank and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh during this month than what there has been during any other month of this year including January (a month which saw a total of 86.4 mm of rain being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 72.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh). This is in complete contrast to what happened during October, when there was a long dry spell at Edinburgh Gogarbank which lasted for 11 days.
