The temperature was dropping away quite nicely for a while during yesterday evening. However, there is now a lot more in the way of cloud which means that once again, the temperatures are refusing to drop (they have actually gone up a bit during the last hour or so once again).

In addition to that, it is slightly damp outside possibly due to a little bit of drizzle, although this isn't even enough for that that to show up on any of the latest rain radar maps.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight has gone back up to around 6°C.

After a clear end to last night, the Sun is shining here yet again to bring us into yet another bright and sunny start to yet another day as this very sunny month of November goes on. It also looks as though there may well have been a slight ground frost as well.

However, everything is also rather damp even though it hasn't actually been raining. In fact, this has even resulted in 0.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning although this can only be due to condensation rather than actual rainfall.

Once again, not all of my available data is coming through and there hasn't been an occasion so far where this has been so crucial than just now. The last data which I have for the botanic gardens shows a temperature of 0.3°C at 7am. At my other two local stations where I have all of that data, it hasn't been as cold as that though which means that as things stand just now, I am still unable to report an official air frost here since there are no temperatures amongst all of my available data which are below freezing.

However, that doesn't mean that there actually hasn't been an official air frost because the data from the other two stations show that the temperature was still dropping at 8am this morning (these temperatures were 2.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 3°C at Edinburgh Airport). There is therefore no reason to suggest that the temperature wasn't also still dropping at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh at 8am and with the temperature there already being very close to freezing at 7am, there is the chance that this might have been enough for there to have been an official air frost there.

Since that data hasn't actually come through, I am unable to make a judgement either way on whether there has been an official air frost or not. That has happened because one single but crucial piece of data just hasn't come through, and that is why it is so important that this data comes through on time so that I can properly report that. However, I can say that last night was the coldest night of this month so far regardless of whether or not, there was an official air frost at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Another crap day with a SE wind and abundant cloud moving in off the sea following another mild min of 5.1C. The most ridiculous thing is that is one of the colder mins during this poisonous month.

Another fine dry sunny morning, even felt pleasantly mild in the sunshine when sheltered from the east breeze. Currently 10.4 c & 71% h, although I only managed a min of 7.4 c with above freezing dps at 4.30 am so it all stayed frost-free (next door's nasturtiums are still growing and flowering). Joys of 13 c SSTs at the Strait of Dover.

An almost completely sunny morning means that a total of 2.7 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature from all of the available data which I have was 2.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that out of all of my available data, there was no official air frost at any of my three local stations which means that we still don't have an official air frost during this month far, although last night was the coldest night of this month so far.

However, this has to come with a big disclaimer because whilst I now have most of the missing data for the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that crucial bit of data from 8am this morning which I need in order to determine whether or not there actually was an official air frost is still missing as I write, and there is every possibility that the temperature at that station might have briefly dipped to below freezing at that time. This means there just isn't enough data available for me just now for me to be able to say for definite, that there wasn't any official air frost.

Furthermore, the latest data for the botanic gardens in Edinburgh hasn't come through yet, so I can only say that the temperature at 12 noon was around 8°C.

In addition to that, I can also say that 0.2 mm of rain has now been recorded for today so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as 12 noon. As was the case with Edinburgh Gogarbank earlier on this morning though, this can only be due to condensation rather than actual rainfall.

An almost completely sunny afternoon means that a total of 6.0 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This makes today, the third sunniest day of this month so far at that station where a minimum total of 13.3 hours is now needed between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average overall.

Throughout today, I have been stressing the importance of getting important data in time so that this can be properly reported here. That has now come to the fore once again today because the missing data for 8am this morning at the botanic gardens has now finally come through and this confirms that the temperature there at that time was -0.1°C. This means that last night's overnight minimum temperature at that station was -0.1°C which means that an official air frost was recorded there at that time. This in turn is the only official air frost to have been recorded so far during this month at any of my three local stations.

However, no data from the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has come through since 11am this morning which means that I am unable to give an accurate report of either today's maximum temperatures or the latest recorded temperature at 4pm this afternoon. All I can therefore say for now, is that today's maximum temperature was around 9°C and that the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was around 8°C.

This evening started off with clear skies, and with the temperatures falling away nicely as a result. However, I have noticed that there is now a lot more cloud around which means that at Edinburgh Airport at least, the temperatures have now started to refuse to drop any further as a result of there being too much cloud around (the temperature at that station has actually gone up slightly during the last hour as a result).

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was around 5°C.
