Still a lot of cloud around and very windy as well with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 35.4mph from the south as at midnight.

In the end, a total of 1.8 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

As a result of there being too much cloud around and far too much wind, the temperatures are once again refusing to drop and so, it is ridiculously mild for this time of year just now with the temperature still up at around 13°C as at midnight.

Since not all of my required data is coming through, this report isn't likely to be quite as accurate as I would like it to be.

There is still some cloud around, but only in very small amounts and there is also plenty of blue sky around which has already allowed to get our usual bit of sunshine as I write.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

That latest temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where the temperature is still dropping as I write means that we have just and no more, managed to avoid that ultimate winter nightmare of double figures minimum temperatures at all three of my local stations. However, that has only happened just by the skin of our teeth. It has been a very mild night nevertheless, and the minimum temperatures at Edinburgh Gogarbank (which is 10.8°C) and Edinburgh Airport (which is 11°C) are in double figures which means that we have double figure minimum temperatures at two of my three local stations.

After a bright start, it went all gloomy, murky and misty with the low cloud shrouding them thar hills and even ADSA (at 50 ft ASL) is hidden in murk. Going by the latest satellite grabs, it looks like low cloud and fog over France is making the Channel crossing under a slack south east airflow.

An almost completely sunny morning means that a total of 3.3 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

This morning's overnight minimum temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh was 9.8°C, but today is turning out to be another very unseasonably mild day.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 14.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This afternoon brought us a lot more in the way of cloud but there is still some clear sky around as well and in the end, a total of 4.4 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank where this month is now starting to take on a significantly sunnier than average look to it.

In addition to that, it is also ridiculously warm for this time of the year. I am using the term "warm" here rather than "mild" because although I don't have enough data coming in to be able to give the usual more accurate report here, I can say that today's maximum temperature was just above 15°C here in Edinburgh. That is warm enough for me to be able to go outdoors wearing just a t-shirt and when that is the case, it has to be reported as being "warm" in my book, rather than just being "mild". Furthermore, today's maximum temperature wasn't all that far below what our average maximum temperature would be in the middle of summer and given that we now in the middle of November and into the darkest period of the year, that is just ridiculous in my book.

As at 4pm this afternoon, the temperature has dropped slightly but it is still at around the 13°C mark.

This evening is rather cloudy and overcast.

Despite the official forecasts telling us that we were supposed to be going into a much drier spell of weather by now, there was still some light rain a short while ago which has resulted in a total of 0.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm this evening, although this wasn't enough for any measurable rainfall to be recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This isn't very much and is barely even worth reporting here, but this is already enough to result in today being the 9th day in a row which has failed to stay completely dry at Edinburgh Gogarbank (so much then, for that dry spell which we were supposed to be entering into).

In addition to that, the wind has picked up again, and was gusting up to 32.3mph from the west at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm this evening.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 10.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so although it is still very mild, it is slightly cooler than what it was at this time during yesterday evening.
