Mostly cloudy with a few showers around which in the end, resulted in a total of 1.2 mm of rain being recorded for yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that yesterday will after all, go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.

Not only are the the temperatures refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud around, but they have actually been going back up over the last few hours to the point where the temperatures are now just about back up to yesterday's maximum values.

That all important temperature at midnight was therefore 8.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A shower of rain in the early hours of this morning has resulted in a total of 0.2 mm of rain being recorded for today at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 8am this morning, but with Edinburgh Gogarbank remaining completely dry so far at that time.

As I write, there is still some cloud around, but there is also plenty of blue sky around. The Sun did appear briefly a short time ago and it should only be a matter of time before it comes out again for not such a brief period.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 3.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh but those temperatures were reached quite early during yesterday evening before the temperatures then shot back up again due to there being too much cloud around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 8.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Variable amounts of cloud around just now with the same old story yet again, with there being virtually nothing of any any note actually happening.

I mentioned earlier on this morning that it would only be a matter of time before the Sun would be out. That is exactly what ended up happening with a total of 1.1 hours of sunshine now being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon (when our weather is as easy to predict as that, this tells me that our weather is rather uninteresting and therefore, boring since one of the things which makes our weather interesting should be that it is hard to predict).

Today is also already milder than yesterday with the temperature now back up into double figures at all three of my local stations and so, the temperature at 12 noon was 10.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Some showers have never been all that far away from here during this afternoon, but they are continuing to refuse to fall in this part of the world where the borefest goes on as a result. This has resulted in this afternoon descending into a boring, grey and overcast nothingness with a total of just 1.4 hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end, at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's maximum temperature was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 10.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In contrast to what is happening elsewhere, our usual borefest goes on with a lot of cloud around, but with very little actually happening that is even remotely interesting (there are still some showers nearby in various locations but these are still refusing to fall in this part of the world). Because there is so much cloud around though, the temperatures have only dropped by a very small amount from today's maximum values.

Therefore, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 8.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
