A truly disgusting night with gale force southerly wind and heavy rain. "Only" 7 mm has fallen so far but it seems so much more than that . . . especially as my roof is still leaking!

12.1 C & 92% H.

As a former TWO user often used to say, this is utter gash. But on the other hand, someone on Facebook just posted a photo of a totally deserted night club just around the corner from my house.

As was the case last night at this time, it has stopped raining once again although it remains rather cloudy once again.

In the end, a total of 3.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that yesterday will now go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations.

It is still very windy as well with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank reaching 40.4mph from the SE during the last few hours.

As a result of there being too much cloud and far too much wind, the temperatures are once again, refusing to drop, so the temperature at midnight was 10.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The odd shower during the very early hours of this morning has resulted in a total of 0.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For now though, we are back to the usual borefest with quite a lot of cloud around. However, there is also quite a lot of blue sky with the Sun now starting to make its usual appearance which in the end, was always going to end up happening even though this has taken a bit longer than on other recent mornings.

It's also not as windy as it was last night, with the wind having now veered more towards the SW as it was forecast to do after last night's weather system had moved through.

The temperature has dropped a bit since the overnight rain cleared away. However, it's still not the least bit cold and the temperature at 8am this morning was 8.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Blustery - overcast right now ! 13.c

Enough of this cloud, relentless drizzle and mild gunk! Off to Budapest today and back on 17th when I hope we will see some decent model output runs from a cold perspective.

Still dark and gloomy with further showery rain (13.4 mm since my Davis station reset at 12 am) and while there are some gustiness from time to time, the wind isn't anywhere as strong as it was last night (helps that it's coming in from the SW so I'm more sheltered by the hilly bit, rather than straight in from the Channel last night and funnelling up my road).

A more seasonal 11.7 c & 90% h.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Looks like I spoke too soon earlier on when I talked about us not having to worry about cloud and drizzle here because as soon as I posted that, it then clouded over here to leave us with an increasingly overcast afternoon. In the last wee while as well, we have also started to see some light rain at times and although this has barely been enough to even wet the ground so far, the latest radar maps show that heavier rain appears to be heading in this direction.

The result of this is that in the end, a total of 3.6 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank but with nothing at all in that department since 1pm this afternoon, and today is now the third day in a row where our weather has ended up going downhill after a bright and promising start.

Today's maximum temperature was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Once again, the data just isn't coming through which I need for these reports, but the temperature is around 10°C just now.

Haven't had the time to post before now today, but I've just been hearing heavy rain being blown against the windows by the wind.  Not heard that for a very long time - most of this year probably.  This will add some more to the overnight total of 8.9mm.

Horrendous wind and rain overnight totalling 10.6mm then turned out sunny. However this had no effect on the temperature with another ridiculous min of 8.6C which was exactly the same as yesterday. Then, despite the sunshine, this was followed by a pathetic diurnal range of only 1.6C giving a max of 10.2C. Incredulously this was also exactly the same as yesterdays max

More than 3 hours past sunset and it's still 9.3C. This month is a total joke. Every time I think things can't sink any lower I am proved wrong

There is still a bit of light rain around, but the really heavy rain has moved away to the north, although not before this resulted in a total of 3.6 mm of rain being recorded for today so at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm this evening along with 3.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations as a result.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 6.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
