Mild and cloudy with the wind picking up a bit as well. There has also been some light rain which has made it a bit damp, but without being enough to register as actual rainfall at any of my three local stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 9.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Very mild and very windy with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank this morning reaching 44.7mph from the SSW. It is also mostly cloudy, although the Sun was shining not too long ago which means that we can't rule out the possibility that we could have a higher than expected sunshine total for day as a result, which would then carry on the very sunny start to this month which we have been seeing.

Despite the forecast, I am also not anticipating very much if anything at all in the way of rainfall for a while at least. The reason for that is because the current weather pattern is similar just now to what we had not too long ago when a trailing cold front ground to a halt over the west of Scotland and dumped a lot of rain there with some resulting flooding whilst this part of the world along with other parts of the east of Scotland remained bone dry as a result of that weather front never actually quite managing to reach here.

The BBC forecasts for today have that rain band further east than what it was then on this occasion, and sitting right over here (hence the rather wet forecast which they have given). However, a quick analysis of the current rain radar map shows that the rain is in virtually the same place as it was then, and I can't really see that changing for now at least.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Those temperatures were reached at a very early point in time during yesterday evening, and the temperatures have steadily been going up since then.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 13.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so that today is already a lot milder than what it has been for quite a while.

So far, today is going very much as I expected (that is explained in my 8am post on this thread) with the weather not being as bad as what it was forecast to be.

It's still mostly cloudy with a total of just 6 minutes of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon. However, the Sun is shining as I write and since it has been doing so far a while, I still believe that today's sunshine total will end up being not being to bad for this time of year in the end.

There was a spell of light rain during this morning, but that has resulted in a total of just 0.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon, along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. According to the latest rain radar map, the rain is some distance away from here at the moment and doesn't appear to be getting any closer to here over time as I write. That would suggest that it is unlikely that we will actually end up getting a lot of rain here.

It is still very windy though with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 42.3mph from the SSW as at 12 noon.

Nevertheless, it is very mild for the time of year and the temperature at 12 noon was 15.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Got cold v quickly last night & thought we might be on for another glazing; this morning's sunshine and S wind warmed things up really quickly.

Nearly reached 14C and it's 13 now in what I would call fairly good sunshine for November.

Washing's drying.

Just been outside and it was not a pleasant experience. Thoroughly nasty and disgusting day. Temperature has reached 13.4C but felt nothing like it with the vile wind, grey skies and drizzle.

Back home now and have the lights on already. Just the absolute pits

Over on the MO thread, I just recently seen a few posts appearing about the immediate outlook being boring, but the reality for here is our weather during this autumn has been boring for most of the time. Of course, I'm not saying that there hasn't been any occasions where the weather hasn't been boring here and we have had a few named storms already. However, these have mostly brought nothing more than a bit of wind and very little in the way of rainfall which for me, is not enough for that to be regarded as "interesting" in any way.

Meanwhile and back on topic, that general theme of the weather being boring has happened yet again today with yet another Atlantic weather system bringing plenty of wind, but very little in the way of rainfall. The Sun has appeared at times, but today has mostly been nothing more than a boring, grey nothingness with a total of just 42 minutes of sunshine being recorded for the whole of today whilst the day's rainfall total remains unchanged from my last report on this thread.

It has been very windy today with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank since my last report, getting up to 44.7mph from the SSW as I have already said, this is not enough in itself to make actually make our weather interesting unless we get some rain to go with that.

Today's maximum temperature was 15.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so today has been very mild for the time of year.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm was 13.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After a rather cloudy start, it turned out fair with good sunny spells for the rest of the day as well as being dry.

It peaked at 12.8 c but a moderate southerly breeze kept it feeling cool and fresh. Currently 10.6 c & 74% h.

Same as idj20 at this end of the county - turned into a very pleasant sunny day after the cloudy start.  Here we got to a max temp of 13.4*C at 1.30pm.

Today has turned out exactly as I predicted that it would be in the post which I made here just after 8am this morning with the rain staying to the west of here, whilst it remains almost completely bone dry in this part of the world as usual. That has happened despite the BBC telling us that we would get that rain and maybe, this shows that I might actually do a better job myself of forecasting the weather, than that lot at the BBC (who after all, are only taking their data from Meteogroup).

Anyway and back on topic, very little has changed since my last report. The rain which is situated just to the north and west of here has got a lot heavier according to the radar maps but as per usual, that rain is still refusing to fall here as I write and so, the same thing is happening all over again just now that happened the last time that a trailing cold front ground to a halt just to the west of here not all that long ago.

It is still very windy as well. it's not quite as windy as it was earlier on, but the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank is still gusting up to 31.1mph from the south as at 8pm this evening.

It is also still very mild and because of there being too much cloud and far too much wind, the temperatures are already refusing to drop. As a result of that, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 13.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

While fireworks are going off as expected, the one thing we do have going for us here at Folkestone is a fresh southerly wind bringing fresh air in from the Channel. A rare occasion where I don't mind the southerly wind for a change.
