The sky is clear just now (as I can see from the fact that I've just been able to see the Moon rise from my east facing windows) and there doesn't appear to be much in the way of wind. Yet for some unknown reason which I can't fathom out, the temperatures are refusing to drop just now, and have actually gone up slightly during the last hour or so. So much then, for that frost which we were supposed to get, according to the latest forecasts!!

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 3.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

4th morning I've had to scrap the ice off the windscreen... That's more than some entire winters down here!!

Very light NE breeze, 0.2c and pure blue sky...

Despite a clear night with light winds, the temperature just would not drop here, so I have no idea of what happened there and why that was the case because it seems to me, that this was a night where we should have been getting the same frost which others are reporting on this thread. Yet, I haven't even seen any ground frost here although with clear skies, that has once again taken us into a bright and sunny start to this morning and rather amazingly for these parts, this has now been the case for the last couple of mornings.

I did notice that there has been 0.2 mm of rain which has been recorded for today so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh but since the skies were completely clear when that was recorded, that can only be due to condensation rather than actual rainfall.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 2.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 0°C at Edinburgh Airport (that happened only briefly at 11pm last night before the temperature then went back up again) and 2.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 4.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The temperature got down to -0.9c at around 7.30 this morning. Beautiful sunny and frosty morning again, but with a little high cloud just starting to fade into the blue sky. This is my fourth air-frost recorded this autumn(albeit 3 of the four have only been a fraction below freezing). All change this evening, though, with wind, rain and milder conditions on the way, for now at least.

A completely sunny morning means that a total of 3.9 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far, as this very sunny start to November goes on. Having said though, there is a bit more of a breeze which will no doubt be the first reminder that normal service is about to be resumed later on with the return of more cloud and milder temperatures.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 9.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Wouldn’t surprise me if this turns out a frost free month with a vile outlook consisting of similar synoptics to November 2011

A lovely day with almost unbroken sunshine and only well scattered cumulus.

The max of 12.8 c at 1.30 pm felt positively balmy in light wind. Currently 10.8 c & 69% h but the solar input is doing an excellent job in heating up my famed west-facing hobby room. I've set the thermostat at 21.5 c but it's currently 23-24 c indoors anyway.

This afternoon started off on a sunny note, but it has now clouded over so, this afternoon has ended up descending into a boring and grey nothingness in the end with a return to constant grey skies. The result of this is that a total of 5.7 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today as at 4pm but with nothing at all in that department for the last two hours which means that this now looks like being the final total for today.

That is rather disappointing when you consider that it had looked for a while as though today was setting itself up nicely to end up being the sunniest day of this month, although the actual total which we have got is still quite a decent one for this time of the year.

Today's maximum temperature was 9.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so today was slightly milder than yesterday, though not as mild as it is about to become over the coming days from now on, if the latest forecasts are correct.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 7.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Overcast and milder than what it was at this time last night. The rain radar maps even shows that we getting some light rain just now and have been doing so for a while, but I am seeing no evidence of that on the ground at the moment, which still continues to look bone dry.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 8.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
