Surprised that there was quite extensive snow in parts of the centre of the country yesterday into this morning.

Modest uppers , must have been some very heavy precipitation.

Snowfall over quite a wide area of eastern France including the Loire Valley down to Grenoble and the Alps. Reports of up to 50cm in places.
St Etinenne was reporting heavy snow at 0.2c at 19.00 last night. There was 16cm snow recorded - 400m above sea level
Bourges in the Loire valley was 0.2c at 1am last night with heavy snow. There was 3cm snow at 7am this morning, but possibly more as it was already melting then. Bourges is only 160m above sea level.
Surely very rare for snowfall in the Loire valley in October. Snowfall is relatively rare in winter.
