A fairly cloudy start to today, and much milder than of late.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 5.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, those minimum temperatures were reached during the very early hours of this morning before it then clouded over, resulting in the temperatures then shooting up.

As a result of that, the temperature at 8am this morning had gone up to 13.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Mostly fine with plenty of sunshine and well broken cloud. There's still a fair amount of solar heating from the sun when in a south facing sun trap and even though there is very little wind, the 16.2 c & 70% h does feel distinctively chilly in the shade.

There has been the odd sunny spell during today, but it has been overcast for most of the time and a total of just 18 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

In addition to that, there has also been some brief drizzly showers around. These have barely been enough to even the wet the ground, so there has been no measurable rainfall from that as usual. However, these drizzly showers have felt rather unpleasant when you are out and about amongst them.

However, it is rather warm for the time of year and so, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 15.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
