As a result of there being too much in the way of cloud around, the temperatures are refusing to drop.

As a result of that, the temperature at midnight was 11.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

 

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Some medium/high level cloud to my east is obscuring the Sun just now, otherwise we have a fairly clear start to this morning for a change.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Sunshine still hanging on at this end of Kent (albeit more hazier via high cloud) where the current 17.5 c & 74% are still feeling pleasantly warm in light winds.

Areas of cloud have come and gone throughout this morning which has appeared mostly overcast for some of the time, but most sunny for the rest of the time. The result of this is that a total of 54 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's maximum temperature so far was 13.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 12.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A mostly sunny end to the day resulted in a total of 5.2 hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end, at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That has now taken us into a clear night so far with the temperatures falling away nicely (it's just a pity that we never actually get an official air frost these days since it always clouds over before that can happen).

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 7.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
