-1.2C and clear, it's not entirely calm, temperature dropped a degree when light wind moved to the south an hour or two back.

Low Mill and Rosedale to the south are both on -2.2, interestingly Blake Ridge between them is +4.8C

It's happened yet again and once more, we have have been robbed of a possible frost thanks to that usual borefest which we keep on having to endure here.

This time, the temperature got down to around 2°C at Edinburgh Airport in the early hours of this morning before it then clouded over yet again with the wind picking up as well.

This time, the temperature then went up after that and was now at around the 7°C mark at around 8am this morning with yet more constant grey skies to go with that and nothing else actually happening.

Currently 3.8C here and cloudy after a low of 0.6C, the lowest of the season so far. I did think I'd get some sun this morning though before the cloud spilled in from the west.

Back to dry and bright weather here at this end of Kent, it's only the north east breeze that is making the current 15 C feel fresh and airy (much better air quality compared to yesterday). Only had 4.2 mm from last night's rain, not enough to soak into my thirsty lawn. As Jiries like to say; that is not acceptable.

First of all, the fact that wind and rain is piling into the west of Scotland doesn't necessarily mean that it will actually reach us here in the east of Scotland where we really could do with getting that rain just now. Furthermore, there is also a difference between there being rain not all that far away from here, and there actually being some rain here because the fact that there is rain nearby still doesn't necessarily mean that we will actually get it here.

From what I am reading, I seems to me that you haven't been properly studying the latest forecasts which did say that whilst the west of Scotland is in for quite a lot of rain over the next few days with some very high totals coming from that, very little of that was actually ever expected to reach the east of Scotland, and it looks as though this is what is actually happening yet again.

We have had a cloudy and windy morning with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon. However, the Sun always manages to find a way through here in the end, and the Sun was even shining here just before I started to write this post. Because of that, I don't think that today will be a completely sunless day at Edinburgh Gogarbank in the end.

There was a little bit of rain during this morning but as is usually always the case these days, this was barely enough to even wet the ground and so, there is still nothing in the way of rainfall which has been recorded for today so far at either Edinburgh Gogarbank or the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 12 noon. So basically, we have yet another day which is dominated by yet more grey almost constant grey skies and virtually nothing in the way of rain, and this means that we still have the same old borefest as before with nothing much really happening here.

That is what annoyed me about the fact that we were robbed by a frost by it clouding over during the night, becuase this is happening as a result of a rather lame and pathetic effort to bring in some so-called "unsettled" weather from the west and so, I quite frankly couldn't care less about whether or not you thought that saying that we were robbed of a frost was too strong.

Anyway, the temperature at 12 noon was 10.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Here in Edinburgh, today has demonstrated yet again that we just no longer get any sort of "interesting" weather in this part of the world.

There was a few sunny intervals at around lunchtime which has led to a total of 1.3 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

There is some rain around, but this has been very light with the rather pathetic total of just 0.8 mm of rain being recording for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon, along with just a measly 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

It has however, been very windy with maximum gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon of up to 42.3mph from the SW.

Today's maximum temperature so far has been 11.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 10.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

It's still overcast here in Edinburgh and very windy.

I wasn't expecting today to be a particularly sunny, so today's sunshine total was better than expected even though that amounted to just 1.3 hours of sunshine for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing at all in that department since 2pm this afternoon.

Today's rainfall total so far at 8pm this evening has increased slightly to 1.4 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank (where today will therefore, go down as an official rain day as a result), but to just 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Quite frankly, neither of these totals are very significant and so, doesn't even come close to what is needed here in terms of rainfall during what continues to be a very dry month here so far.

If anything though, the wind has got even stronger as the evening has gone on, and is now gusting up to 47.2mph from the SW at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm this evening.

With all of that going on, the temperatures are not only refusing to drop, but they have up gone up during this evening to the point where they have now gone above today's earlier reported maximums.

Consequently, the temperature at 8pm this evening had now gone up to 12.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which you will no doubt have guessed, is just not acceptable in my books.

But you were complaining about cloud spoiing your chance of a frost. Now it doesn't seem surprising to me that from such a system cloud spills over to eastern areas, even if there is little rain.

You couldn't care less? Well bully for you. You know I even added a smiley to that comment to indicate that it was meant in a light-hearted manner and not as genuine criticism, knowing how over-sensitive and 'touchy' you are. But oh no, you couldn't even see that. I might as well not have bothered.
