The events of last night have surely once and for all, demonstrated that we just don't get any sort of interesting weather here any more, such as what is what is still occasionally experienced in other parts of the country.

For a while, we had looked on course to experience our coldest night of the season so far, with possibly even our first official air frost of the season. However, it then clouded over and once that happened, the temperature then refused to drop by much further than what it was at midnight. This in turn, has taken us into yet another morning with yet more grey skies and yet another depressing grey nothingness as this almost constant borefest goes on.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 3.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Was meant to be a fine, sunny day but there is a pointless stream of boring cloud completely covering the eastern half of the sky hence blotting the sun out completely

Had this pathetic cloud not appeared we could have managed a frost but the fall in temperature was halted at 1.9C Still only 4.4C now.

The brightness and dryness are hanging on by their fingernails here, not to mention still feeling clammy and mild at 15.5 C.

However, the air quality seems to be rather on the poor side with the scent of stale smoke and pig poop under a light north east breeze.

After the high cloud cleared late morning it's been stunning here. Deep blue skies and strong sun. Shade temperature at 11 C but light winds. Pleasant enough to have lunch in the sheltered garden 😎

Rain has just stopped, after a squall sent the pots flying over. Hard steely skies with a temperature of just 9C, contrasting with yesterday's 21 at about the same time.

Most of the rain cleared by 10am here.
