Overcast, and very warm and humid to the same extent as what we were seeing during the summer, and which is going to be just as uncomfortable for trying to sleep.

In the end, a total of 2.0 mm of light rain and drizzle fell at Edinburgh Gogarbank (although it is dry just now) along with 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was still up at 16.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

We've had a bright and sunny start to this morning with a total of 12 minutes of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

However, it has now clouded over a bit and it is still fairly windy as well with maximum wind gusts of up to 37.9mph from the WSW at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

Last night was far too warm for my liking. It is now in the process of cooling down a bit but at 8am this morning, the temperature had only gone down to 14.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which for all three of these stations, is still a lot warmer than what it should be at this time of year.

Yet another boring day in the most boring part of the UK in terms of our weather, as the day has descended into yet another depressing grey and overcast nothingness, with nothing of any interest actually happening.

Somehow, a total of 1.3 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon, although I find that very hard to believe, given the very grey and overcast nature of this morning.

It is also still rather windy and at midday, the wind was still gusting up to 28.6mph from the WSW at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperatures are still slowly continuing to drop after the very warm night which we had last night. This means that despite the fact that is midday, the temperatures are now down to their lowest values of the day so far.

On that note, the temperature is now down to 13.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Totally clear blue sky, hot in the sunshine, with a cool W breeze.  Atmosphere seems almost continental in its clarity.  Brilliant.  (Unless you have to work facing into the sun, which is rather blinding as it's lower in the sky compared to high summer.)

Sunny and 20C. The sky has since cleared to crystal blue and there has been very noticeable drop in humidity.

Feels quite cool out of the sun despite the temp.

There's still a lot of cloud around, but also some decent blue sky to my north with the Sun trying to break through. So far though, a total of just 1.7 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Today has been very unusual in the sense that today's maximum temperature actually occurred during the very early hours of this morning (in the middle of the night) and was 17.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Since then, the temperature has gone through a very slow and gradual decline so that the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was now down to 12.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Just shy of 23C today, dew points as high as 16C with the clear blue skies (again), and light winds.

It's felt very nice outside - even better then yesterday 🙂

18.4C was our pleasant high but it's cooling down markedly now, 13.8C currently.

Some cloud has come over and strong wind has eased.

Temperature failed to drop below 13C overnight but fell throughout the day to reach a dire 9.0C at 1:30pm under more drizzly rain that served no purpose whatsoever other than making things feel thoroughly unpleasant as usual.

Then when the clearance arrived so did the vile wind  So yet again the temperature is refusing to drop and barely any lower than in the early afternoon at 8.2C. This place is the absolute pits for a weather enthusiast. A total joke

The Moon is rising just now to my east but is obscured by a layer of thin high cloud which is still around.

In the end as well, a total of 2.3 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

The temperature is continuing to drop with that temperature drop speeding up a bit after sunset and at 8pm, it was down to 10.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and just 8.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it is already (thankfully) a lot cooler than last night.

Been another summer-like day with unbroken sunshine and a max of 20.6 c at 2 pm. Currently 13.7 c still with mostly clear skies and light winds.

Incidentally, it was 13.2 c at 10 pm this evening, now it's shot up to 15.1 c at 12.15 am but with a reduced humidity level. Mixing as the weak cold front approaches? Perhaps a kind of fohn effect under a freshening north wind (in from them thar hills)?
