A few breaks in the cloud, otherwise mostly cloudy yet again with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Having said that though, we are now less than a week away from the Autumn Equinox and almost at the point in time where it is no longer possible for us to get any recorded sunshine before 8am anyway.

Because of of that, I will no longer as from tomorrow, be continuing to mention the fact that there is nothing in the way of sunshine as at 8am unless there unexpectedly ends up being something there at some point in time in which case, I will continue to give that total as normal.

Anyway, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After a fine sunny start, broken low cloud is trying to roll in from the Channel as I type this - all evidence of being under an increasingly tropical maritime type airflow. Winds has also picked up as well - but that might be because it's of a southerly type where it tend to comes straight in from the sea and funnel up my sloped street so what is a slight breeze feels more than that.

20.3 C & 81% under a moderate south breeze.

After a little bit of brightness to begin with, today has descended into yet another depressing and boring grey nothingness with a total of just 12 minutes of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 11.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 14.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Clear blue sky, hot sun, temp about 22*C and an intermittent breeze to freshen it up.  Glorious day - just like the height of summer should be.

I have often said that where I live is often the most boring part of the country when it comes to our weather and today, we are fully living up to that billing in this part of the world.

With this week being billed as one of the most interesting weeks in terms of our weather, the weather gods have still managed to find a way of ensuring that absolutely nothing happens here as today has just been one massive grey and overcast borefest here.

The result of this is that a total of just 12 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon, with nothing at all in that department since 9am this morning.

There was a bit of light drizzle for a while during this afternoon, but this was barely enough to even wet the ground so there continues to be nothing in the way of rainfall either, just to add to the sheer boredom of today.

The only thing which has actually been happening here, is that it is getting warmer over time, so the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 16.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16°C at Edinburgh Airport and 16.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Rain total of 0.2mm making it the 4th day out of five to record under a mm with near relentless grey skies and drizzle. 10 days of measurable rain this month and only 13.6mm to show for it with little sun and few warm days. The absolute pits

The clouds as become more broken as the evening has gone on, but the really abysmal total of just 12 minutes of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing since 9am this morning.

The wind as picked up though with the approach of ex-Hurricane Helene, with the maximum wind gust at Edinburgh Gogarbank getting up to 32.3mph from the SSW as at 8pm this evening.

However, the temperature has kept on going up as the evening has gone on although in the last hour or so, the temperature seems to have finally peaked at a maximum value to so far of 18.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18°C at Edinburgh Airport and 18.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

That has now taken us into what is a ridiculously warm and humid evening for this time of year and so, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 17.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
