Rather cloudy here in Edinburgh, and we've just had quite a heavy shower of rain.

The result of this is that although the botanic gardens in Edinburgh got away with a completely dry day yesterday with no rainfall being recorded there, this latest shower of rain has robbed Edinburgh Gogarbank from being able to enjoy that same same feat right at the last minutes, as a total of 0.4 mm of rain was recorded there as a result. Having said that though, the true total from that shower is unlikely to be known until just after 1am this morning, which means that anything else which does arise from that will therefore be part of today's total.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 11.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The Sun is shining here in Edinburgh just now after a cloudy start to today, although a total of just 12 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

There has also been a number of heavy showers throughout this morning as well and as a result of that, a total of 4.0 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon along with 1.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 11.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it is also a bit cooler than other recent days so far today.

This afternoon has been rather wet and miserable here in Edinburgh with quite a lot of heavy rain at times The result of this is that a total of just 42 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

So far as well, a total of 8.6 mm of rain has now been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon along with 5.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes today the wettest day of both this month and this autumn so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and the second wettest day of this month and this autumn so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature was 14.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, the temperature has dropped a bit as a cold front has moved through, so the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was now down to 11.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

I've never seen this thread so quiet for a very long time.

Anyway, the earlier rain has now cleared away to leave a few sunny intervals towards the end of the day but in the end, the rather abysmal total of just 54 minutes of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

In addition to that, there are still a few showers which are coming through at times. This means that today's rainfall totals have now crept up further to 9.0 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 5.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 10.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
