Mostly dull and overcast with only the odd brighter interval. This means that a total of just 6 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Having said that though, the wind has died down a bit and the temperature at 12 noon was 14.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This afternoon has been rather a grey and depressing story which has resulted in the really dismal total of just 6 minutes of sunshine being recorded for the entire day so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon with nothing at all in that department since 9am this morning.

It is still windy as well, with this afternoon's maximum wind gusts so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, still getting up to 33.6 mm from the WSW.

It has also started raining here a short while ago although this is still very light just now and barely even wetting the ground with the heaviest of this rain still a long way away from here. This is basically just the same old story as what we have been seeing time and time again again during this month, and is the main reason why this has been such a drier than average month here so far.

Today's maximum temperature was 14.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so today has been a bit cooler than of late.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 13.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Yet another awful, bleak depressing evening. The 8th day with rain during this diabolical September with the usual trivial light rain totalling 0.2mm so far when it was meant to stay dry. Cool as well at only 12.9C

A grey and dismal afternoon has eventually given way to a rather wet and miserable evening here in Edinburgh as the rain has got a bit heavier over time. This means that in the end, the rather measly total of total of just 6 minutes of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which even for this time of year, is really abysmal especially since we haven't yet even got to the Autumn Equinox.

So far as at 8pm this evening, a total of 1.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens. Those amounts are still not all that much. However, they are enough to mean that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations and since it is still raining quite heavily as I write, those are unlikely to be the final totals for today.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 12.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
