Here, it is yet another boring day here in the most boring part of the country when it comes to our weather, as today has just become one complete borefest and dull and overcast nothingness, with nothing other than yet more constant grey skies and nothing actually happening (it was raining here as it is in other parts of the country, it would at least mean that something was actually happening).

Rather unsurprisingly as well, this has resulted in nothing in the way of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 14.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Mostly cloudy and 16°C here in Aberdeen currently. However with some sunny spells and essentially no wind it is feeling very pleasant. Certainly warm enough for wearing shorts while out cutting the grass.

Still absolutely nothing exciting happening here in Edinburgh. The only thing which has changed here since my last report is that it has become a tad brighter at times, but that has resulted in a total of just 24 minutes of sunshine being recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

With that brightness though, the temperature has gone up a bit and so, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 16.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Been an interesting day left a cold grey Slough at 8am drove through some horrific driving conditions on the M6 in the pouring rain only for the sky to clear East of Stirling and arrive to a glorious late summer/early autumn day in NE Scotland, lots of combines in fields and even some potato harvesting just west of Dundee. Temperature on the car topped out at 21c around Laurencekirk but even in Aberdeen it was a pleasantly sunny 17c at 1730 with barely a few clouds.

Incredible how varied the weather can be over just 500 miles.

Here in Edinburgh, the clouds actually cleared away towards the end of the day to leave us with a lovely sunny evening. This meant that suddenly out of the blue, a total of 2.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

It has also been fairly warm for this time of year as well with a maximum temperature of 17.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 14.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
