Much more in the way of cloud around this morning, and there has also been some overnight rain with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning. However, there is some blue sky to my north which suggests that today's weather might end up not being as bad in the end, as what it had been forecast to be here.

As a result of the overnight rain, a total of 1.0 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 1.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A fine and fresh start to the day but is warming up now at 17 C (unless it's the sun warming up my Davis Vantage station). It got down to 9.7 C at 7 am.

Yesterday turned out decent as well with a bright sunny afternoon after a cloudy start, the max of 23 C at 3 pm made for a very pleasant gardening session.

This morning has been an improving picture over time, but it is only brightening up very slowly which means that a total of just 18 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

The latest rainfall total for today so far as at 12 noon was 1.2 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 14.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it is slightly warmer than what it was at this time yesterday.

The improvements in today's weather over time didn't last beyond lunchtime and although it has remained dry since then, this afternoon was just descended into yet another boring, overcast nothingness with yet more constant grey skies. The result of this is that a total of just 42 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 16.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16°C at Edinburgh Airport and 16.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it was at least warmer today than what it was yesterday.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 15.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16°C at Edinburgh Airport and 16.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The clouds eventually cleared away a bit during the latter part of this afternoon and evening but all too often, the blue sky was in the wrong place to allow us to see anything in the way of sunshine. This means that in the end, the very disappointing total of just exactly an hour of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm this evening was 12.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
