With high pressure expected to be in charge for the first part of this month at least, this thread is likely to be rather quiet for a while. However, this is the place to enter anything which does happen during this month in terms of rainfall and in any case, it might get a busier here if the second half of this month in particular, ends up being more unsettled in line with what some of the models are suggesting.

So far as at 1pm this afternoon, a total of 3.2 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank during today, along with 5.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 3.2 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 3.2 mm and the total for this year so far to 423.6 mm as at 1pm this afternoon.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 5.2 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 5.2 mm and the total for this year so far to 429.6 mm as at 1pm this afternoon.

The general model output for a while, was for this month to start off on a dry note and the latest model output still has the next few days to be quite dry. Beyond that, the outlook does turn more unsettled over time and even if we go by what the model output has been suggesting, this month has already started off on a wetter note than what the models were predicting due to the fact that they appear to have underestimated just how active, this latest rather troublesome cold front would end up being which has given us all of this morning's rainfall.

Got the feeling this month could end up as dry or even dryer then June.. no notable/measurable rain yet this month just a few spots blowing in the wind.

The met office outlook for the next few weeks has little or no rain in it for down here.

A total of 3.0 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank during today so far as at 10pm tonight, along with 2.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 9.6 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 9.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 430.0 mm as at 10pm tonight.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 13.0 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 13.0 mm and the total for this year so far to 436.4 mm as at 10pm tonight.

As I write, this month is still continuing to run quite a lot drier than average so far, albeit not to quite the same extent as it was going into today. However, the latest 10 day outlook from the GFS (which was not covered today by Gavin P. due to today being the day for his weekly winter updates) continues to be drier than average in this part of the world despite the fact that we are now in a more changeable weather pattern.

In the end, a total of 5.4 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 4.2 mm st the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This makes yesterday, the wettest day of both this month and this autumn so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and also the second wettest day of both this month and this autumn at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, a total of 1.8 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank during today so far as at 7am this morning, along with 1.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 16.8 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 16.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 437.2 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 18.8 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 18.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 443.2 mm as at 7am this morning.

As I write, this month is still continuing to run drier than average so far, despite all of the rain which we have had during the last couple of days. The general outlook in terms of the official forecasts is for an increasingly unsettled outlook. However, the latest 10 day outlook from the GFS is somehow, continuing to show no more average rainfall for this part of the world within that 10 day outlook period.
