Still overcast here in Edinburgh as usual, but there has been no further rainfall since my last report.

In the end, a total of 4.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 3.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In my last report on yesterday's CC thread, I mentioned that the temperatures may well still rise above the maximum temperatures which I had reported there.

That is exactly what has ended up happening and so, yesterday's maximum temperature which was eventually reached at around 11pm was 13.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. However, that still makes yesterday the coldest day of this month so far at all three of my local stations, and the coldest day of this summer at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 12.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A much better start to today than yesterday's sunless complete write-off of a day.

There is still a lot of cloud around, but also some sunny intervals. As a result of that, a total of just 6 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank but even that is more than yesterday's total for the entire day.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 11.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 12.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Well, the sunny intervals from this morning didn't last for long as it soon clouded over again with yet another dull and overcast grey nothingness and yet more constant grey skies to endure. As at 12 noon, a total of just 1.1 hours of sunshine was recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing at all during the last couple of hours.

There are also a few very light drizzly showers around, although these haven't come to anything so far.

Rather frustratingly, I haven't been able to get all of the data just now which I need to compile these reports properly at the right time, but I can say that the temperature at 12 noon was around 15°C in this parts. That still isn't great for this time of year, although it is at least better than those ridiculously cold temperatures for the time of year, which we had to endure during yesterday.

While it has been on the cloudy side, I have been seeing the occasional bright interludes. The current 19.4 C & 69% H under a moderate westerly breeze, all drying things up after yesterday's rain.

16C was the high here, increasingly gloomy afternoon but stayed dry.

The clouds did break up a bit more during this afternoon to allow us to see a little bit of sunshine, but it has just turned a bit more gloomy once again. The result of this is that a total of 2.1 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon.

Today's temperatures still haven't all that been spectacular for this time of year but compared to those ridiculously cold temperatures which we experienced during yesterday, today has felt almost tropical in comparison, and the temperatures are still going up as I write, and have not yet peaked for today.

Therefore, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 17.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Felt warm at lunchtime with the sun out and the temperature reaching 18.1C - the first time in 9 days and only 5th time since the 10th that it's reached average.

Now it's the dire and depressing evening that this rancid month has excelled at producing. Grey, dismal and totally useless. 15.4C.

During this evening, there has continued to be a lot of cloud around at times, although it had looked as though this was mostly dissipated altogether as sunset approached. Nevertheless, a total of just 2.5 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

That is much better than what we had yesterday, but is still yet another disappointing total which still leaves us needing another hour of sunshine or more to occur between now and the end of this month, in order for this summer as a whole, to have been sunnier than average overall.

Today's maximum temperature was 17.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.5°C, so today was much warmer than yesterday although the temperatures were still, not all that great for this time of year.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm this evening was 14.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
