13.9C, a full blown low cloud/drizzle fest from the North Sea the past couple of hours, thick fog above 1000 feet.

Quite unusual for August, more often seen Spring and eary Summer.

After mentioning in my last update on this thread that the rain and drizzle had faded away from this part of the world, it then duly returned virtually as soon as I posted that last update, and that just sums up what has been a really miserable day here in Edinburgh which I will now, just be glad to see the back of.

The end result of this is that there was nothing at all in the way of sunshine which was recorded for today in the end, at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This makes today, only our fourth completely sunless day of this summer so far. However, today was the third sunless day of this month with all of those other sunless days occurring just in the last week as this month just seems to be going from bad to worse.

That in turn, is probably also the final nail in the coffin for any chances of this month ending up being anything other than a substantially duller than average month in the end. It is still technically possible for this month to somehow, end up being sunnier than average. In order for that happen though, it would now have to be sunny for virtually all of the time which would now, be quite a lot to ask for even during a really good month.

With that further rainfall during this evening, today's rainfall total has now crept up to 15.6 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 18.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. With the manner in which today has gone as well, it still wouldn't surprise me if even those figures ended up not being today's final totals in the end.

It is also a bit cooler than last night and so, the temperature at 9pm this evening was 12.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 12.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
