Clear, calm, 9.7C - quite notable to get a temperature in single-figures this time of year.

Even better indoors, 18.7C this morning, the first time since early May that it's been below 20C indoors throughout the night. The best night's sleep in months was had as a result!

It's a reminder that although it's still summer, autumn is lurking around the corner. Not long to go now!

Today is turning out to be quite a big let-down compared to what we saw yesterday.

After a cool and clear night, it has clouded over again with the August permacast now back underway and resulting in nothing at all in the way of sunshine, being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

In addition to that, it is also raining here in Edinburgh although so far, that has only resulted in 0.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, with nothing at all at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so last night was another chilly one.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Currently 16.6 C at 9.30 am here at Folkestone from a minimum of 10.9 at 5 am. A wonderfully comfortable 24 C in my famed west-facing hobby room.
Looks like showers are already keen to get going this morning and will continue to pester us for the rest of the day, but there are also some sunny breaks. Could be a good day for funnel cloud spotting over the Channel (a pair were spotted yesterday).

Uppers must be cool today. The rain has sent the temperature tumbling from 17C to just 12.1C. Unheard of this summer.

The earlier showers have cleared away for now, but our permacast hell goes on. There are some areas of blue sky around, but we still have mostly constant grey skies with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

As a result of those earlier showers, a total of 1.0 mm of rain has now fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank (where today will therefore, go down as an official rain day as a result) as at 12 noon, along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The temperatures are also refusing to rise by much as well and so, the temperature at 12 noon was a rather dismally cool 14.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Absolutely hammering it down out there. There was a big tell-tale downdraft which gave me enough warning to get the washing in. No thunder yet- all the recorded lightning strikes are to the west or well to the north. Temperature down only 1 degree in this last big shower- often falls 5 or 6 degrees, so an interestingly small drop.

13C, rain just passed over but another shower to come I think then. Probably the first time there feels like a real proper change today as much as we have had a lot of cloud and bits of rain in the past month

Up to 25C with lovely sunshine and fluffy clouds in Southern Burgundy after a cool 21 yesterday and torrential rain.

Next week is looking rather nice here, high 20s and low humidity with nothing too hot.

A frigid 12.9C after a shower passed through.

All of the same people who were moaning about it being too hot last week are now moaning that it's too cold. Serves them right.
