A cool start to this morning with some good sunny intervals, but with a total of just 48 minutes of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, an unseasonably chilly 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so last night was the coolest night of this month so far, which follows on from yesterday being the coolest day of this month so far.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A calm clear and sunny morning here at Eamont Bridge near Penrith.

16.3c following a cool overnight low of 8.8c.

Apart from some early drizzle on Monday in Scotland and a brief light shower here in Cumbria yesterday the weather has been ok during this 'unsettled spell'.

I return home today with the tan topped up !

Very overcast but still bone dry. I'll be very surprised/disappointed if we miss out on the rain today. I bought a brand new petrol mower and petrol strimmer as a 51st birthday gift to myself back in early June and both items still remain untouched to this day.

17.8 C but the lack of winds (thankfully) and the 80% H are keeping the mugginess going anyway.

Cold, clear start with a minimum of 2.6C in the garden.

Air minimum was 0.5C at the official Met station 2 miles to the west where the grass minimum was -2C.

Not a particularly cold airmass, but showers yesterday cooled everything down then it stayed clear and calm overnight.

Raining (finally) with 4 mm already reached. Can hear the lawn gasping like a fish on land.

A notable dip in temps at 16.3 C but humidity has risen to 91% so the dewpoint is higher than it was earlier on this morning.

The clouds have built up quite a lot more during the course of this morning, but there are still plenty of decent spells of sunshine coming through at times with a total of 4.2 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

However, the temperatures are refusing to rise very far once again and so, the temperature at midnight was 15.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 16.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The coldest early afternoon for a few months here! 14.7C under moderate rain, with a gusty NW'ly wind.

All the windows are open in my house (I'm off work this week), trying to get rid of the last of the stagnant warm air from the heatwave...

EDIT: Coldest afternoon since May, in fact.

Now 14.9 C and 11 mm of rain fallen under very grey overcast skies and a brisk NW wind. More like late October rather than early August.

Yet, five short days ago it was 30 C under blazing sunshine and calm winds.
