At the moment, the sky is clear with much less in the way of cloud around just now than what I have seen for a very long time. That led to some reasonably good spells of sunshine during this evening which in the end, resulted in a total of 4.2 hours of sunshine being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank although that still isn't exactly all that great for this time of year.
The biggest thing which has let today down though (and perhaps, rather surprisingly so given how warm a month and summer this has been overall so far) has been the temperature. Today's maximum temperature was 17.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which is rather disappointing for this time of year although it does at least feel a lot more comfortable than those very warm and sticky conditions which we were having to endure just a few days ago.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm this evening was 13.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
