17C cloudy and quite breezy. Don't really know what's happened to the weather in the past couple of hours but it's really not as nice as the forecast

After that fine and sunny morning, it's clouded over with warm ploppy rain. Can almost hear it crackling upon hitting the baked hard ground.

Creeping down to 23.9 C from a max of 27.2 only less than an hour ago but humidity has risen up to 70% so the DP remains the same 18 C throughout.

Long sunny spells as it has been all day.

High of 24.3c around lunchtime when it felt quite humid. Despite the clear skieas the temperature has dropped for much of the afternoon in association with the cooler fresher air from the west . Now 20.3c.

Today has been mostly cloudy throughout as the August permacast (just like the Edinburgh summer festivals) has remained in full swing. However, the rain cleared away during this morning , and there is now a bit of brightness coming through, and even a bit of sunshine at times. That in turn, has resulted in 1.2 hours of sunshine now being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm.

Today's rainfall totals so far are 1.6 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 2.4 mm of the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 5pm this afternoon.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 13.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.0°C at the botanic gardens.

Although the cold front has now moved through, the temperatures still haven't yet peaked for today although it is cooler than of late. Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 18.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18°C at Edinburgh Airport and 18.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

I think the text forecasts could do with a bit more detail. Pretty difficult to describe the weather for Doncaster and Settle and everywhere in between in two sentences.

This evening has consisted of yet more cloud and just limited amounts of brightness with only an odd sunny interval at times. This led to yet another very disappointing total of just 2.2 hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end, at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

The temperatures were also rather disappointing today compared to what we have become used to recently, so today's maximum temperature was 18.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18°C at Edinburgh Airport and 18.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

That makes today, the coolest day of this month so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, and the second coolest day of this month so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This is also, only the first time since the very day of this month that the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has failed to reach 20°C, thus ending a run of five days in a row where the maximum temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh had exceeded 20°C.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm this evening was 15.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
