A very dark, depressing and soul-destroying start to the day. It's misty with a lot of thick cloud cover as the August permacast rolls on, with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far as at 8am this morning.
In addition to that, there has also been some rain and drizzle at times and as at 8am this morning, a total of 1.4 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 2.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.
Since the temperature has not yet fully bottomed out from the overnight period, I can't report the actual minimum temperatures just now and so, the temperature at 8am this morning was 13.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
