Just left the office and was cursing that very fact. Totally clear and deep blue skies. Annoying.

Heathrow has risen back up to 34.3 at 5pm so might still squeeze another degree out. Sometimes the highest temp comes at 6pm.

Same here this morning then around 1pm it cleared very slowly and once the sun came out it hit 36.2C here then stay 35C for couple of hours and now 33C.   Glad to see it clear skies now so that good thing for tomorrow real heat and clear warm tonight too.

Tom Schaf's of BBC's 6:30 weather forecast played down temps for tomorrow saying maxes of 29c in London!?? :s

I AM SURE TEMP OF 35C WOULD HAVE been broken somewhere but just the fact it hasn't been recorded!? But hot spots seem to be around SW and west of London like Heathrow, Twickenham, Putney, Ascot, Slough or Windsor etc. Many of those area's hit or exceeded +34c.

What is their logic in that? Looks totally wrong.

He did say earlier though that temps would be higher in EA and Kent, around 34C

Thing about Tomasz though he does 'improvise' as he goes along. Some people do find this entertaining

Met office still going for 37c tomorrow in EA, big call with so much instability around but i will take my hat off to them if it happens. 

That figure may change. Apparently the latest UKV run takes the temperature down to 34-35c as a maximum tomorrow.

It wouldn't surprise me, 34c would be my guess 

Most of the heat looks to be east of London. Models have only been showing 29-30C in London itself, and cooler to the west.

Mozt models show at least low 30s in London tomorrow.

There was a interesting debate about this on SE regional thread in NW that either London get 29C or 37C and I am going for 37C as per as ensembles say so.   If 29C then why it not cooling down right now, thunderstorms? cold front already arriving here? None of those 3 happening.

Does anyone remember the UK top temperature for Tuesday 24th July? I have the other figures for this week but just cannot remember that one. Thanks.

Here are the top temperatures for every day so far this month. Lowest was 25.8C on the 17th.

Today is only the second date record we have broken this year. While it has been consistently very warm, it has rarely been exceptional on a day to day basis.

There was a comment earlier that Wisley (Surrey) was top today with 35.1C. Is that right GW?

Interesting stats and I can see Epsom reached 36C in 1911.  Sadly it no longer exist but if they were open i am sure Epsom would had been the top today at 36C because I recorded 36.2C and my phone app for Epsom also was 36C briefly before it stay on 35C for a long while exactly like my readings.  

We need more official weather stations for each town, villages than just major towns and cities only.

Yes 35.1C at Wisley quoted by Stav on the 2155 forecast. Table above has been updated.

The latest Met Office forecast with Alex Deakin is still showing 37C for tomorrow, although as has been stated elsewhere the peak temperatures are totally reliant on how and when thunderstorms break out over eastern England / East Anglia.

But Alex did say that if the sunshine keeps going for long enough 38C is possible.

The July record of 36.7C is the one that is most likely to go tomorrow.
