I usually take a cool shower before going to bed and during the working week I try not to have any food or booze 3-4 hours before going to bed. That and a very light cotton blanket has kept it very comfortable (not a single sweaty night so far), even though I keep the windows closed.

In fact this summer has been much more comfortable for sleeping than 2003 and even 2006.

Heathrow has dropped back to 33.1c. Northolt in NW London, Mildenhall and London City Airport now leading the pack at 34c.

34.8C here. It is ovenlike. Very redolent of summer holidays in the Lot Valley in high summer.

 I can see lot of clouds forming over Heathrow from here as it cleared now for nearly 2 hours due to sea breeze now.  34.8C and the bbc news website they mentioned Met office going for 37C for southern, eastern and central UK tomorrow so they have to change the 29C to 37C tomorrow.

It must be correct or the Met wouldn't have tweeted it.

Yes just the problem with metro group instructed BBC to put 29C for London which is way too low and ensembles say NO, you still have another day tomorrow with temperatures dropping by the evening. I am expecting London to see mid to high 30's tomorrow early afternoon because tonight will be in the low 20's.  There no such temps of low 20's over night to high 20's on the same day before.

Hello Neil, yes you are right Heathrow record 36.7c for 1 July 2015 nearly got cancelled by high up people but im pleased record stands met office wont change that now
