A dry, clear, cool and fresh night here in Edinburgh.

The temperature at midnight was 11.0ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 11.4ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

 

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

11.3c clear with just a very small amount of mist lifting in calm conditions.

RNAS Culdrose only 1 mile away still has the temperature at 14.7c but we are in the valley...

There has been some high to medium level cloud around during this morning, but the Sun is shining here in Edinburgh as I write although a total of just half an hour of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 8.6ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 10.1ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so last night was actually rather chilly for the time of year.

However, the temperatures are already responding nicely to the sunshine, so the temperature at 8am this morning was 14.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 15.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Im somewhat surprised that im now reading 25.5c.  These values last recorded at 0900 on 30c + days which occur around 1-2 days a year here.

We are now already exceeding the rather pitiful Met O forecast max of 25 c

There is a small amount of cloud around, but there is also plenty of sunshine around with a total of 3.5 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

The temperatures have also responded nicely to that sunshine and at 12 noon, the temperature was 20.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 21ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
