A thoroughly wet and miserable end to what had been not too bad a day here in Edinburgh, although the rather disappointing total of just 2.0 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank. However, even that was better than the 12 minutes of sunshine which was recorded during the whole of yesterday at that same station. Nevertheless, a total of just 4.0 hours of sunshine have now been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank over the last four days which is very poor indeed, for this time of year.

As I write, it is still raining and as at 10pm tonight, a total of 10.0 mm of rain has now fallen during tonight so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 3.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as both an official rain day and the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm was 15.8ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 16.1ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it has cooled down quite a lot from earlier on. However, it still feels very warm and muggy, and we could really do with a bit of thunder to clear this air.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
