Still on 0.0mm here.

In fact, this is now the second longest "unbroken" dry spell I've recorded over the last 36 years, currently standing at 30 consecutive days without any measurable rainfall.  Only the 34-day dry period spanning March & April 2002 is currently longer!

17.2mm to the end of the 16th, thanks to torrential showers this evening. A wetter month than June so far, but still likely to finish very dry at this stage.

I'm clearly not in Edinburgh just now, but I can confirm that a total of 0.8 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that though, a total of 0.4 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 3pm this afternoon thanks to some showers, along with nothing at all at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, this month's total so far is 2.2 mm, with the total for this summer so far standing at 57.8 mm and the total for this year so far standing at 325.2 mm as at 3pm this afternoon.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this month's total so far is 1.2 mm, with the total for this summer so far standing at 52.8 mm and the total for this year so far standing at 324.0 mm as at 3pm this afternoon.

What is interesting here is what whilst the botanic gardens in Edinburgh was the last station in Edinburgh to see an official end to the recent drought, an official rain day was recorded there yesterday which thus leaves Edinburgh Gogarbank as the remaining station in Edinburgh where there hasn't been a single official rain day recorded during this month so far.

Still waiting to record any rainfall this month, perhaps a chance in the next couple of days. Just 3mm in June.

Since I have now arrived back in Edinburgh after my Scottish Borders trip, I can now update everyone with Edinburgh's rainfall totals but before I do that, I can confirm that the last recorded rainfall here was on Friday 20 July 2018 with a total of 2.4 mm of rain fell at Edinburgh Goigarbank, along with 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which made that day, the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 4.2 mm, the total for this summer so far to 58.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 327.2 mm as at 7pm this evening.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this month's total so far is 3.4 mm, the total for this summer so far to 55.0 mm and the total for this year so far to 326.2 mm as at 7pm this evening.

A total of 13.8 mm of rain fell at Edinburgh Goigarbank during yesterday, along with 9.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes yesterday, the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations by quite a long way.

In addition to that, a total of 0.8 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 6am this morning, along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 18.8 mm, the total for this summer so far to 73.0 mm and the total for this year so far to 341.8 mm as at 6am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this month's total so far is 13.4 mm, the total for this summer so far to 65.0 mm and the total for this year so far to 336.2 mm as at 6am this morning.

This hasn't been enough to prevent this month from running quite a lot drier than average so far at both Edinburgh Gogarbank and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. With the current model output as it is as well, this month looks set to go down as a significantly drier than average month in the end, as part of what has turned out to be a very dry summer until now.
