Here in Edinburgh, we have slid back into another permacast hell with yet more constant grey skies after those earlier showers. This means that as at 5pm this afternoon, just 1.3 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing at all in that department since 1pm this afternoon.
Those earlier showers have resulted in 0.4 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon, along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
This means that the drought at Edinburgh Gogarbank is now officially over, but this has not been enough to end the drought at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which is currently in day 23, and which now lots set to go on for at least another day.
Today's maximum temperature so far as at 5pm was 19.6ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 20ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Those temperatures occurred quite early in the day before those showers came along. At that point in time, there was a sharp drop in the temperatures which have slowly been recovering since then. This means that we can't rule out the chance of those earlier maximum temperatures being exceeded again before this evening is out.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 19.0ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.4ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
EDIT:
A change of wind direction from those easterlies which have been around for a few days to more of a SW flow has resulted in the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (which is always the coolest of my three local stations under those easterlies) staging a late rally in response to that, up to a new maximum of 19.6ºC during the last hour.
