I can now add that since there has been no recorded rainfall in Edinburgh since 20 June 2018, we have now also entered into an official absolute drought at both Edinburgh Gogarbank and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (the only two out of my three local stations where rainfall is actually recorded and reported).

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 10.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 12.9ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 14.0ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 14.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There is something of a cooling onshore breeze and looks like mist/haze/thin low cloud trying to roll in from the Channel but is still bright anyway. A comfortable 21 C but it's the 80% humidity that is maintaining the stickiness indoors.

A completely sunny morning since my last report on this thread has resulted in a total of 5.8 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far as at 12 noon.

I have just been out and about, and it still feels really warm in that sunshine. However, it is actually slightly cooler than what it was at this time yesterday so that the temperature at 12 noon was 18.9ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 19.9ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

had a go at sitting in the garden with my book, when it came over all gloomy in from the north. Seems cumulus formations over the Downs has become large enough to produce a shower and the higher part of the cloud is blotting out the sun. It's still bone dry at this end and I am willing that shower to come this way but looks like coming up against onshore winds . . .
