11 days in a row now where somewhere in the UK has got at least to 29c. All but two days above 30c I believe.  Not bad when I started this thread it didn't look anything that special but its turned into a memorable spell.

It’s a pity for “neatness” that the value is not 30°C. I guess the run may be extended a little bit more in the coming days.

From what has happened with this reading in Motherwell, maybe it's time that Scotland had its own equivalent to the UK Met Office because at the end of the day, I would like to have seen whether or not, this record would have been allowed to stand if that had happened somewhere in England, rather than here in Scotland.

Sounds to me as though, this is just one example of the so-called "UK" Met Office, really just being the "English" Met Office.

What a bizarre reason for rejecting the reading. How on earth would a car parked near the station have that much effect? Yet Heathrow readings are acceptable despite planes spewing out garbage onto that all day long. Not to mention the junk readings from Brogdale which are excessively sheltered yet allowed to stand.

Into the 29s here and still climbing. 

Optimal wind behaviour today for peak temperatures here relative to a given airmass; a light wind varying between NW and NE.

I have identified that the Avon Valley up to Salisbury represents the northern reaches of a 'hot spot' under any form of N wind in the summer, for which the southern reaches are just NE of Bournemouth - where the official weather station at Hurn happens to be ideally placed to observe the locally higher temperatures compared to outside of the valley where it's often 2-3*C cooler on such days.

Despite the forecast cloud today it is managed to stay largely sunny all day. 

Currently 26C so another very warm day.

Another two days of westerlies to enjoy before the NE winds set in next week. We could even get highs below 20C on Tuesday would be a big shock to the system and I am definitely not looking forward to it.

I agree LeedsLad! Even here the easterly didn't get in....feeling much nicer as a result with the warmth lasting into the evening. I can see the evil east spoiler has attacked Aberdeen and Newcastle recently. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the bugger comes back 👍
