That was recorded at 2:04pm (those temperature readings at Swanston are actually made every five minutes, and recorded to the nearest 0.1ºC). Since then, the temperature has dropped there a bit and was down to 21.6ºC at 4:45pm this afternoon.

I can report though, the Sun has come back out here although there is still a lot of cloud around.

Overcast with only the odd appearance by the Sun at times. As at 5pm this afternoon, there was still only 7.2 hours of sunshine which had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing at all in that department since 2pm this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 22.1ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 20ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 21.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (which is now, today's maximum temperature there so far).

As predicted the crud took until lunchtime to clear, but a lovely afternoon with normal service resumed with a max of 23c. Sunday is looking pretty warm here, with temperatures potentially breaking 30c.

There's these weird things in the sky round here.

They're white/grey and fluffy-looking. I've gott this vague memory that I've seen these things before, but it's such a long time ago I can't be sure.

21.3C was the high here too and a mainly sunny afternoon.

Wind has shifted to SW and quite strong, better for cooling the house but temperature is staying higher than recent evenings.

Here, a max of 24.7C was underpredicted by all the charts, even the optimistic Arpege. It was also the 12th consecutive day over 24C and it looks like that may be just the start of things.

The clouds broke up here just before sunset to allow us to get some late evening sunshine. However, a total of just 8.0 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank which when you consider how sunny it was up until just after lunchtime, is rather disappointing.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm tonight was a rather warm and sticky 19.1ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 17.0ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
