25C with unbroken sunshine and a light breeze is absolutely perfect for me. Any more and it's like me having ten pints instead of six. I probably won't taste the extra drinks and the extra alcohol would make me really ill. You can have too much of something.

As for five inches of snow in winter? If I got that I wouldn't care what the SE got. That would make it a record snowfall since the cold winters at the turn of the decade which were in themselves the first for over a decade.

I live in the north of England. On average it will be cooler cloudier and wetter than down south. I accept that unlike, say, a certain NE poster who thinks that Aberdeen doesn't stick out into a pretty frigid ocean with all the attendant problems that can cause meteorologically.

Yes, it's very nice - and I don't necessarily enjoy any hotter, but from a weather enthusiast's perspective 30C days are always noteworthy. Like in July 2015, it reached 33C - not pleasant at all imo but certainly an experience considering it's not often it gets that hot. That's why I'm disappointed this spell didn't deliver anything hotter here if only for one day (though Monday did get close to 30C).

High 20's down here today and also fairly humid feeling Dp's in the low teens. Today has also seen the first clouds for about a week.

Highest temperature here in Edinburgh today as at 4pm was 28.2ºC at Swanston weather station in the south of Edinburgh.

It had looked for a while as though we were going to go above 30ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank as the temperature at 1pm this afternoon had already jumped up to 28.0ºC at that station. Those chances were then scuppered though when a sea breeze set in for a while and caused the temperature to drop back again by a bit. However, that sea breeze has died down again and allowed the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank to jump back up again to 27.9ºC at 4pm.

This tells me that we may well have got above 30ºC today had it not been for that sea breeze but even at that, today is still our hottest day of the year so far anyway so I can't complain too much about that.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Looking possible that Shannon over here in the west of Ireland could have beaten its all time high of 31.6c (1976) as latest report showing 32c, but hard to know if this is just a rounded figure or not.

It's quite funny seeing a debate between a Northerner and other Northerners and Scots about the definition of a heatwave. Makes a change from the usual North vs South "this is only a SE affair, not nationwide" argument.

What amazes me though is the fact that a city which is located 40 miles or so to the west of here and where it rains a lot more on average than what it does here, ends having a higher record high temperature than here. I'm guessing this just shows how much a temperature contrast there is under those easterlies which Glasgow is much more sheltered from, than the more typical westerlies which would more typically be giving Glasgow its higher average rainfall totals.

To put this in context, last June managed 25.7C and September 2016, 25.6C.
