Dry, clear and rather chilly for the time of year (it's certainly not feeling like summer in this part of the world at the moment).

In the end, a total of 9.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 7.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes yesterday, the wettest day of the summer so far at both of those stations by quite a long way.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 8.9ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 9.6ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Last night was a cool and clear night with a minimum temperature of 7.6ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 7.6ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes last night, the coolest night of the summer so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and the joint coolest night at the summer so far at both Edinburgh Gogarbank and Edinburgh Airport.

his morning has started off with yet another veil of cloud and although the Sun is trying in vain at times to get through that, that veil of cloud is still managing to limit the amount of sunshine which is being recorded with just 42 minutes of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 12.1ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Normal service has been resumed yet again as today has descended into yet another soul destroying and depressing grey and overcast nothingness, as the annual June permacast continues to maintain its grip on our weather and remain in full swing.

This means that as at 12 noon, we still only have that 42 minutes of sunshine from earlier on being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing at all in the way of sunshine, having been recorded there since 7am this morning.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 15.1ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 15.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Not looking and feeling that Summer-like I'm afraid by being rather dull and cloudy, although it did brighten up on occasions this morning and is still bone dry (lawn now starting to show drought-related colours). As a result, the current 17 C is feeling rather cool and fresh for it but the wind is lighter compared to yesterday (and yesterday was a brighter day).

EDIT: The sun has come out now.

Not much has changed since earlier on. It did get a little bit brighter for a very brief spell at around lunchtime, but that didn't last long and this afternoon has just been a continuation of that same old story of yet more constant grey skies as our permacast hell goes on.

Consequently, the grand total of just 48 minutes of sunshine have been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon.

Even the temperatures aren't exactly all that exciting just now, although it was slightly warmer today than of late with today's maximum temperature coming out at 16.8ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 17.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 15.0ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 16.1ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A warm and dry day with max of 19.7C. Sunny spells but a disappointing amount of cloud.

Still managed 6.4 hours sun which seems like more than most looking at the disgusting satellite. Full overcast now.

There were a few bright intervals during this evening but in the end, this resulted in just exactly an hour of sunshine being recorded for the entire day at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

As we got towards the end of the evening as well, it got really and then just as it had looked as though we were going to get away with a completely dry day, some horrible drizzly rain set in by around 10pm tonight as our summer in this part of the world continues to go down the toilet pan, following on from yesterday's rainfall. Luckily though, this rain didn't last for long and shouldn't amount to much in the way of actual recorded rainfall if anything at all.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm tonight was 14.4ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 15.4ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so tonight is quite a bit warmer and stickier than of late.
