I’m waiting for Brian to wake up as I’m hoping he can confirm that he also had these intense storms in this area overnight

seemed to go on all night but certainly a few separate ones that bought monsoon rain and some stunning lightning .

Yes, it was spectacular last night. Was hoping it would clear away the heat and humidity but its back and even worse now! Sticky trousers time again. Yuk

Brum really taking a pounding with flash flooding and large hail being reported. Old report, but the Met Office is reporting 58.5mm in one hour at Winterbourne earlier this evening.

Cracking storm for here last night - mostly missed one very active cell at about 11PM which was drifting up somewhere to the east, giving some rain and a few flashes here but got a more or less direct hit from another one a little while later that had lighting every few seconds and near constant thunder and some biblically heavy rain

Fair bit of rubbish across the roads locally on my bike ride today and a few flooded bits, although less evidence of anything down towards Hythe/Romney way so not sure what they had down there.

Humidity levels which were very high first up dropped during the ride and it ended up hot and sunny but less close - looks like the Midlands and up towards Liverpool are getting the activity now, quite an impressive line of storms/showers on the radar

Patchy clouds here now and just had a sharp shower. Can also hear distant thunder, so keeping my fingers crossed for a night time light show!

It was feeling very close and looking thundery here this afternoon but then about 5pm it was like someone flipped a switch and the sky cleared. Some distant towers to the north but clear blue sky here.

Clear overhead here but a huge anvil from the storms currently tracking up through Befordshire/Northants has very annoyingly been blocking out the setting sun this evening.

That storm over the Chilterns has been giving a very impressive light show to my north for the past hour or more, one flash a second much of the time!

Indeed, very impressive radar image. The Hampstead Storm of August 1975 must have looked very similar to the radar image of the Chiltern Storm today.

Here in Lowestoft, I've heard several rumbles of thunder in almost stationery line of storms this afternoon. Very impressive massive altocumulus castellaus clouds before is turned overcast. It slowly died out in situ this evening.

Some homegrown storms likely today in EA, SE, southern areas, SW and S. Wales, but also a possibility of some continental imports later and overnight for the SE that's worth keeping an eye on. Rest the this week looks similar, with the threat of storms possibly shifting north into N. England and perhaps Scotland midweek.
