Why don’t you forecast wind strength?

From time to time we are asked why don’t we provide a forecast of the expected wind strength. Currently if we expect strong winds to be a noticeable feature of the weather we will discuss this in our detailed 14-day forecast. Our rolling daily forecasts do not currently include expected wind strength forecasts, but we are hoping to add in this information in before the end of this year.

Edit: Forecast mean and gust wind speeds are provided with virtually all of the forecasts issued on the site.
