Good warts and all (about Spurs) piece this. However, the main subject of the blog is Van Der Vaart. I'm actually beginning to think he's better than Modric.

It was a typical Arsenal performance. I saw most of the match on ESPN (with the sound turned down to escape the Waddle noise pollution) and Arsenal were lucky to get a draw from this. They've got about as much chance as winning the league as Spurs. Nothing has changed this year, and soon Wenger's excuses will start in earnest.

If you are making that assumption on the season so far Brian , then that leaves just Chelsea.

Sunderland were very much up for the game yesterday...did everything that Braga didnt do ie closed down the Gunners quickly and tackled well. Arsenal will destroy teams that give them time on the ball but when the face teams like Sunderland its different and very much the reason why Arsenal need a natural leader and a player who can mix it physically.

As far as the season goes Chelsea are head and shoulders above the rest at the moment. However i wouldnt write off Arsenal or Man U just yet !! Both are capable of going on a long run of winning matches and the games between the top clubs will have a huge say in where the title goes this season.

The run of games Chelsea have had has been very kind to them at the start of this season having played 4 games against relegation favoured teams and that doesnt stop today with a home game against Blackpool should be another goal fest at the bridge. We will only know how good Chelsea are when the play one of the more capable premiership sides.

Man U v Liverpool...both teams need a huge performance today, Its so close to call but i am tipping Man U to just nick it by a single goal

Man U and Arsenal will both be in the mix IMO

Crunch game for Liverpool already, both in terms of points and morale. They usually pull something out of the bag against Manchester United, and will need to today.

Arsenal are the one team in the premier I'll make an effort to watch on TV so I'd like to see them win. I just can't see this season being any different to the last few, although I know Wenger says the team is now mature etc. Heard it all before. Happy to be wrong though.

Until Arsenal has a physically bigger squad they are always going to be prone to being rolled over by bigger teams. Apparently - according to the Daily Fail - Arsenal has the smallest team in the league.

Chelsea has the biggest team - the top five rounded off by Stoke, Man U, Spurs and Blackburn.

Based on probable starting XI's Arsenal will typically give away two stone per player to Chelsea.

For those that sneer at the Football League some of this match's passing and crossing would have a Lincoln fan angry at its incompetence.

Good hat trick indeed. And there's the rub, Berbatov et al are going to have to step up to the plate (to use US parlance) big time this year because the United back four looks dodgy, although in fairness it has had to be shuffled about a bit in the absence of Ferdinand. That said, better teams than Liverpool will look at today's game and be chomping at the bit to take it on. I know Spurs and Arsenal will.

you can't help thinking Chelsea could have scored as many as they liked, they totally took their foot off the gas 2nd half.

No Lampard,Anelka or Terry, they look awesome

Might as well enjoy the one-horse race for the title - even so early in the season you have to say its only a question of the margin by which the title is won

Liverpool are light years away of winning the title - they are just not good enough - and you get the impression that whoever manages the club will not make a difference - so you have to feel sorry for Roy Hodgson on mission impossible

well if Arsenal get beat at Stamford Bridge in a fortnight then they can forget it. They need at least a point .

Have to say that is hollox.. Chelsea havent played a decent side yet !!  Let see how they get on once they start to play games againt better oppostion.
